Samsung Unveils The Galaxy Player 5.8; For People Who Thought The Galaxy Note Was Too Mainstream

Samsung may have lost the battle to Apple in the court and have to shell out more then a bullion $ for patent infringement, but this has not stopped the company from releasing senseless, new Galaxy products. Today, the Samsung factory has churned out the Galaxy Player 5.8 sporting a 5.8-inch (duh!) LCD with a paltry qHD (960×540) resolution for a 16:9 aspect ratio, ideal for watching movies.

While the company did not mention anything about the processor or RAM of the media player, it did mention the Android 4.0 and TouchWIZ skin running on the device along with some other specs such as the 16/32GB of internal memory, a microSD card slot, a front-facing VGA camera, Bluetooth 4.0, and a beefy 2500mAh battery.

Like all the recent tablets from Samsung that don’t look like the iPad, the Galaxy Player 5.8 also has its speakers in the front making them so much more useful.

The press release from Samsung does not mention anything about the pricing or the release date of the device, which should be available at IFA later this week.
